Gas Cooker Repairs & Gas Appliance Faults We Fix
A gas appliance that smells, won’t ignite, or fails its flame-sense test is a TSSA red-tag waiting to happen — and a real safety issue for your family. We hold an active Ontario G2 gas ticket and diagnose every common gas-appliance fault across the GTA, with same-day service for no-ignite and gas-leak emergencies.
New to a fault? Our technicians explain the most common gas-appliance problems in plain language: why a gas burner shows an orange or yellow flame, why a gas appliance won’t light, what to do when stove burners won’t ignite, why a gas appliance isn’t heating properly, why a gas appliance produces an odd smell, and whether to repair or replace your gas appliance. When in doubt, call 647-834-4646 for same-day diagnosis.
Won't Ignite
Cracked spark module, failed glow-bar igniter (gas oven / dryer), weak hot-surface igniter drawing >3.2A, or clogged burner port. We measure igniter resistance hot & cold.
Yellow Flame / Sooting
Improper air-shutter mix, low gas pressure, dirty burner orifice, or LP-vs-NG conversion done wrong. Yellow flame = incomplete combustion = CO risk. We re-orifice & test combustion.
Gas Smell or Leak
Loose flare connection, perished regulator diaphragm, cracked gas-valve solenoid, or burnt thermocouple letting pilot gas leak. Leak-detect with electronic sniffer + soapy-water confirm.
Pressure & Regulator Issues
Failed appliance regulator (should be ~3.5" WC for NG, 11" for LP), low manifold pressure, or fouled inlet filter. We manometer-test before & after the regulator.
Won't Stay Lit
Bad thermocouple (mV output below 18 mV), failed flame-sensor rod oxidation, dirty pilot orifice, or weak millivolt gas valve. We polish the flame rod & test microamp signal.
TSSA Compliance & Red Tags
TSSA-issued red tags, post-incident investigations, vent / clearance violations, or commissioning new gas appliances. We carry a G2 ticket — only G2/G1 may legally service gas in Ontario.
TSSA Certification — What It Means For You
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is the Ontario regulator for gas-appliance work. Every Appliance Forever gas technician carries an active TSSA Gas Technician 2 (G2) or Gas Technician 3 (G3) license — required by Ontario law for natural-gas and propane appliance service in residential settings.
- Legal compliance — gas work without TSSA license is illegal in Ontario. Insurance won't cover unlicensed work.
- Safety standards — TSSA certification requires verified knowledge of gas-handling, leak detection, code compliance.
- Insurance & warranty — most home insurance and appliance warranties require TSSA-certified service.
- Your gas-utility account — Enbridge requires TSSA-certified work for any service touching the gas-supply line.
Gas Stove, Range, Dryer & BBQ Repair
Common gas-range faults: clogged burner ports, worn igniter electrodes, faulty spark modules, failed safety valves, gas oven igniter failure, thermocouple failure on standing-pilot models. For broader oven/range repair (gas + electric), see our oven and stove repair page.
Gas dryer faults: igniter glows but flame doesn’t light (flame sensor), no igniter glow (failed igniter), prematurely cycles off (high-limit thermostat or blocked vent). For full dryer service, see our dryer repair page.
Outdoor BBQs, patio heaters, fire tables, outdoor kitchen gas appliances — all serviced by TSSA-certified technicians. Spring is peak season — book a pre-season inspection. See outdoor kitchen repair.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gas Appliance Repair
The questions our technicians answer most often. Tap a question to expand.
Yes — all gas work is performed by TSSA-certified technicians, as required by Ontario law for natural-gas and propane appliance service. TSSA certification means each technician is trained and licensed to safely test, repair, and reconnect gas lines, valves, and burners, with documented compliance on every job.
Most common causes are a failed igniter, blocked burner ports, a faulty gas valve, or a tripped flame sensor. Do not attempt DIY repair on gas components.
Do not light any flame, do not operate electrical switches, ventilate the area, and call your gas utility’s emergency line. Once the leak is cleared, book a TSSA-certified technician.
Yes — built-in BBQs, patio heaters, fire tables, and outdoor kitchen gas appliances are all serviced by our licensed gas technicians.
We recommend an annual safety inspection on residential gas appliances, especially gas dryers and outdoor units that see seasonal disuse.
