Three things move a glass quote around inside the range: the exact panel your model takes, what the technician finds underneath, and whether that panel can be had.
Glass tops are made for specific models. Size, cut-outs and the printed zone markings all have to match, so two ranges that look alike from the front can take different panels. That is why nobody can price your glass properly over the phone. The model and serial label settles it, and on a range it is often on the frame behind the storage drawer or around the oven door opening.
The second factor is everything under the glass. Before anyone quotes a glass-only job, the elements, wiring and controls need to check out. A new panel over a burnt element just means a second repair later.
